Beautiful Birthday Bag

October 30, 2017

Happy Monday Guys!

How was your weekend?

My weekend consisted of getting some impractically long braids (but they’re so pretty), trying to do a little shopping to refresh my fall/winter wardrobe (didn’t buy anything), and working on a blog post for a health news writing gig (sort of).

As it turns out, I did end up baking for the lunch we had at work this past Friday. Surprise, surprise lol. The owls made me do it. I made spiced sweet potato muffins, and broke out my owl muffin tins and owl jar for the occasion. People seemed to really like it. Speaking of work, I’m enjoying where things are right now. Things have picked up. I’m getting put on more parts of the project I’m working on and other stuff as well. It helps keep things interesting for me. The one thing that has definitely been (and still is) an adjustment, especially coming from an academic environment, is not being able to talk about what I’m researching. During the lunch last week someone in our office who’s not on the project asked me and a colleague who is on the project, what we’re working on. Unfortunately, we couldn’t give any details about it since everything is on a need to know basis. I joked that I felt like it was a test, but its par for the course with working on contracts. My hope is to balance out the contract research I’m doing with more grant-funded research that doesn’t have the same restrictions on disclosure.
Enough about work, though. My birthday is less than a week away! It actually falls on Daylight Savings Ending so I feel like I’ve been gifted an extra hour to celebrate it. You see this bag I’m wearing here. It was actually my birthday/proposal defense gift to myself last year. When I saw it I immediately wanted it, but the price tag didn’t agree with me. So I resisted and waited. It paid off in the end because I got it for less than 50% off! Praise break! Whew, God is so good!I haven’t decided what I’m going to gift myself this year (yes I buy myself birthday presents), but this bag is going to be pretty hard to beat.

Don’t forget to stock up on discounted Halloween candy on Wednesday. Just another reason why I love November. I hope you all have a great week:)
