Valentine’s Day Outfit: Ralph Lauren Blazer & Bag

February 13, 2017

Hi Guys! Happy Monday:)

This weekend was a good one for me despite feeling like I may have been coming down with something on Saturday. Fortunately, when I woke up on Sunday the sun was shining, my throat felt less funny, and my body felt less achy (although I think the aches may have been due to Friday’s workout lol). I pushed through it though and finished pulling all of the research articles I’m going to need to carry out my dissertation research (we’re talking 400+) so I am stoked. I have a meeting with my advisor tomorrow so I wanted to make sure I had a solid progress update to give him.

You know what else is also tomorrow?

Yep, Valentine’s Day. Since I shared a dessert recipe last week, I thought it’d be nice to share some style inspo this week using classic pieces that you likely already have in your closet.

Now I’m not big on designer labels. I care much more about how items are made, then whose name is stitched into or onto them. But I do have to admit that with certain names, you have a much better chance of getting pieces that are timeless and high quality. Enter Ralph Lauren.

I found this blazer years ago while thrifting for just $10 and to say I was excited would be a ridiculous understatement. I mean it’s 97% wool for pete sake. And just look at those gold buttons?!

Ughh. I was (and still am) in love. This blazer isn’t going anywhere. It’s one of those pieces that holds a special place in your wardrobe for many, many years. I got it tailored and it fits like a dream now. I always feel so fabulous whenever I wear it.

With a beautiful blazer like this, you need a beautiful classic bag to go with it. I’m at a point now where if I’m buying a bag it needs to be real leather. The reason is that they tend to be a lot more durable and I put my bags to work. If I opted for non-leather, I’d probably end up spending the same amount of money if not more due to how frequently I’d have to replace them. This isn’t always the case, but more often than not it is. I got this particular bag on sale from Macy’s for under $200 and it was money well spent. It’s been my everyday bag for the past year and some change, and it’s showing minimal wear or tear. I also prefer gold hardware on my bags or the occasional hematite.

To complete the look I went with a gingham top from Old Navy, some high-waisted black skinny jeans from Asos, and these mesh black and gold sandals from Forever 21.

This is the kind of outfit where you’re looking for more errands to run or places to go because you want this outfit to be seen and appreciated by as many people as possible lol.

I know this may not be your traditional Valentine’s Day look, but since it’s a red blazer with a bright red lip I think it counts.

Hope you all have a lovely week!
