Aztec Vibes

February 17, 2016

Every now and again I stumble across pieces that become wardrobe staples. This waterfall cardigan definitely falls into this category. I purchased it from Asos a few years ago and have gotten so much wear out of it. It’s great for lounging around the house in the winter or throwing it on top of simple outfits (like the one pictured below) to liven them up. At this point, the cost per wear is so low that it has paid for itself over and over and over again. I just wish there were a formula to follow for finding these items. Sometimes you buy something and you know that it’s going to be a go to piece, like my chambray denim top from Topshop. Other times you buy something on a whim and it turns out to be more versatile than you ever imagined. I love when that happens.

I’d actually describe this as more of a coatigan than a cardigan. You get both form and function. It’s comfortable and warm but also quite stylish. It makes for a great airport outfit in the winter months. We all want to travel in style but don’t want to sacrifice comfort in the process. This piece lets you do both. And the great thing is you can find items similar to this at Asos, Nordstrom, Macy’s, Zara…you name it.

Work Wear Inspiration

April 24, 2014
Hi Guys! Today I’m bringing you some more of my favorite work looks. I’m hoping to show you that you don’t have to spend a ton of money to get quality work pieces. My work wear items came from all over (thrift stores, TJ Maxx, Target, The Limited, etc) and I got very good deals on them. The key is to wait for sales and add pieces gradually so way your wallet isn’t taking a big hit all at once.
My “Casual Friday” look. Both the sweater and the pants came from Forever 21.

Hope you’re having a great week so far!

Work Wear Inspiration

April 8, 2014

It’s been a little over two months since I started my fellowship and I’m settling in quite nicely. It took a little time to get used to the people and for them to warm up to me, but it’s a been a great experience so far. I thought I’d share with you some of my work looks over the past two months. What you wear, especially in work environments, can speak much greater volumes about your abilities than your actual abilities, so I’m always very mindful of the image I’m presenting. Check out some of my favorite work looks below:

Furniture Shopping

January 23, 2014

Fortunately we’re not dealing with the “snowpocalypse” that our northern friends are currently enduring but it’s still pretty cold here in the Palmetto state. Despite that I managed to get out and do a little furniture shopping. My move is next week and while I’m really excited, there’s a lot to get done. Today I was on the hunt for an accent chair.  I checked out my favorite thrift store and found a great option but unfortunately the chairs were being sold as pairs and I only need one. I also checked TJ Maxx and found some beautiful chairs but they weren’t exactly what I had in mind. The hunt continues…

Coat: Asos, Top: Topshop, Jeans: Forever 21, Bag: Gifted (Just Fab), Shoes: Dolce Vita, Watch: Asos

Gorgeous chairs from TJ Maxx. I seriously love these. I’m still contemplating getting them as dining room chairs!
I hope you all are staying warm wherever you are! Happy Humpday!
